Track and Field Rules
Our Championships are licenced by the UKA and as such are held under UKA rules.
1. The Championships shall be conducted as an individual event.
2. LIMITATION OF ENTRIES
For Individual Events Championships.

JUNIOR AND INTERMEDIATE
- No competitor can be nominated to compete in more than one individual event.

Subject to the limitation in entries, three competitors may be nominated to compete in any individual event.

Competitors will compete in events by age groups (General Competition Rule 3)

SENIORS

No competitor may be nominated for more than TWO individual events.

Subject to the limitation in entries, three competitors may be nominated to compete in any individual event.
3. ENTRY CONDITIONS

That there shall be one Entry Form, and this, for each individual event, to include Event, Name of Competitor, Date of Birth and School. The date for return of this form to be decided by the Championship Secretary.
Emergency substitutions will be accepted up to Thursday 1800 hrs. prior to the Championships, as long as they do not affect the arranged timetable of events.
County Stewards, at least one of whom shall be a man and one a woman in the event of competitors being from both boys’ and girls’ sections, shall be in the ratio of one to every twelve competitors or part thereof.
4. (a) Numbers will be provided by L.S.A.A. and must be secured at each of the four corners.
(b) Every athlete shall be provided with two bibs (numbers) which, during the competition, shall be worn visibly on the front of the torso and back, except in the Jumping Events, where one bib (number) may be worn on the front of the torso or back only
5. PROTESTS

That any protest or objection by a competitor or team against the conduct or placing of another competitor or team in any competition or relating to any matter which may develop during the carrying out of the programme shall be made to the appropriate referee by an authorised team steward during or immediately after that particular competition. The decision of the referee shall be final and shall be announced immediately.

Any protest concerning the eligibility of qualification to compete should be made in writing where practicable before or at the latest seven days after the date of the competition. Every such protest shall be accompanied by a fee of £2 which shall be forfeited if, after investigation, the protest or objection appears to have no reasonable grounds.

7. COMPETITION CONDITIONS AND SPECIFICATIONS

That the 100 metres, 200 metres, 300 metres, 400 metres and all Hurdle races be run in lanes. Starting blocks may be used in these events by all competitors in Senior events, and by the finalists only in the Junior and Intermediate age groups.

If the course is laid out with a lap of 394 metres, the Steeplechase conditions shall be:
2000 metres
Distance to first hurdle 203.8 metres.
Four laps via the water jump = 1576 metres.
The distance from the 21st to the 23rd obstacle = 158 metres.
Distance from the last hurdle to the finish = 62.2 metres
This gives 23 obstacles … viz 18 hurdles and 5 water jumps
N.B. Obstacles are 79 metres apart excepting hurdles 3 and 4 which are 78 metres apart (18 hurdles and 5 water jumps).
1500 metres
Will consist of 312 metres to be run from start line to commencement of first lap, followed by 3 complete laps; the initial 312 metres shall include one hurdle at the beginning of the home straight (13 hurdles and 3 water jumps – 91.4cm high for Boys and 76.2cm high for Girls).

In the Triple Jump the distance between the take-off board and the near edge of the jumping pit shall be:
Junior Boys, Intermediate Girls and Senior Girls 7, 9 and 11 metres
Intermediate Boys and Senior Boys 11 metres and 13 metres

In all throwing events competitors may use their own implements provided these are submitted to the referee for approval. No competitor shall be allowed to use another’s implement without the prior permission of the owner.
Checking times: Events at the beginning of morning session – half an hour before scheduled start of morning session. Events to be held later – at the scheduled start of the morning session.

8. CONDUCT OF COMPETITIONS
(a) That in the High Jump unless a lower height is authorised by the Referee, the starting height for the competition shall be 10 cms below the Lancashire Standard height for the event. The bar shall be raised first by increments of 5 cms to the Lancashire Standard height and thereafter by increments of at least 3 cms.
(b) That in the Pole Vault, unless announced by the Referee, the starting height for the competition shall be 45 cms below the Lancashire Standard height for the event. The bar shall be raised first by increments of 15 cms to the Lancashire Standard height and thereafter by increments of at least 10 cms.
(c) That in Throws and Jumps for distance:
Where facilities are sufficient each competitor be allowed three throws / jumps. The best eight competitors to go forward to a final three further trials, provided they have achieved the District Standard set for the event.
