ENGLISH SCHOOLS’ COMBINED EVENTS CHAMPIONSHIP REPORT
NORTH WEST REGIONAL ROUND
LITHERLAND SPORTS PARK, LIVERPOOL, MERSEYSIDE
SATURDAY 22nd & SUNDAY 23rd JUNE 2024
The North West Regional Round of the English Schools’ Combined Events Championships were held in Liverpool, Merseyside this year. Athletes representing Lancashire competed in all age categories (Junior, Inter and Senior) against athletes from Cumbria, Cheshire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Staffordshire and Shropshire.
This year, Lancashire had teams in the Junior Boys, Junior Girls and Inter Girls categories, with athletes competing individually at Inter Boys and Senior Girls level. The weather was warm and sunny on the Saturday and even warmer with a breeze on the Sunday.
Athletes competed strongly over both days in both Inter age groups and Senior Girls age group, with Junior Boys competing on the Saturday and Junior Girls on the Sunday.

Junior Girls team finished 4th, Junior Boys team were 3rd and the Inter Girls team finished 2nd. The Lancashire Team were 4th overall in the Aggregate Team Competition.
Selections on the day for the National Championships were given to Abdollh Shriha, Thia Grice-Chiula and Ryan McCaffery. Following on from collation of all the results from the five other regional rounds, the next best 9 athletes in each age category are then selected. Selections went to Abbie Ely (JG) and Gracie Rutter (SG).
Congratulations to all our athletes who have been selected and will represent Lancashire at the English Schools Combined Events National Championships at Northwood Stadium, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire in September.
