ENGLISH SCHOOLS’ COMBINED EVENTS CHAMPIONSHIP REPORT

2024 NATIONAL FINAL

NORTHWOOD STADIUM, STOKE-ON-TRENT, STAFFORDSHIRE

SATURDAY 21^st & SUNDAY 22^nd SEPTEMBER

The English Schools’ Combined Events National Championships was held in Staffordshire this year at the Northwood Stadium, Stoke-on-Trent. We had four athletes competing as individuals in their respective age categories. Competing both days were Ryan McCaffery in the Inter Boys category, Thia Grice-Chiula in the Inter Girls and Gracie Rutter in the Senior Girls. Abbie Ely competed on the Sunday in the Junior Girls.

The weather was fairly warm with sunny intervals for most of Saturday, which then turned into a thunderstorm later in the afternoon, resulting in some events being cancelled for the Junior and Senior Boys. The storm continued late into the night and Sunday was a lot colder, with frequent heavy showers.

All athletes performed well over the weekend, working hard, and achieving some new personal bests.
