LANCASHIRE SCHOOLS’ COMBINED EVENTS CHAMPIONSHIP REPORT 2024
STANLEY PARK ARENA, BLACKPOOL
SATURDAY 6th & SUNDAY 7th APRIL 2024
After a five year hiatus, the Lancashire Schools’ Combined Events Championship returned! The two day event was held at Stanley Park Arena in Blackpool, and incorporated the Lancashire AA Championships and Open meeting. The weather was mostly dry, and athletes had to contend with the strong, warm winds of Storm Kathleen! Despite the weather at times, particularly on the Sunday, the event went ahead successfully.

Unfortunately, Millie Turner had to withdraw from the competition after 6 events as she dislocated her shoulder in the javelin. We wish Millie a speedy recovery!
Congratulations to all out champions and to those who will represent Lancashire Schools at the English Schools (North West Regional Round) Combined Events in Litherland, Merseyside in June.
Sadly, none of the Junior Boys or Senior Girls who competed were Lancashire School pupils this year, and there were no competitors at all in the Inter Boys and Senior Boys competition. Hopefully this will improve next year!
However, there were some U11 & U13 Quadrathlon and U13 Pentathlon events which will hopefully inspire younger athletes to continue with combined events when they reach the Junior age category.
My thanks go to all the officials and volunteers who helped on the day. Special thanks go to Dave Needham for organising the event and Dave Whitehead for producing the results program.
